Car battery testing
We test car batteries free of charge at your location in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. The test takes about two minutes and measures the battery's remaining health, the alternator's output and the charging system — so you find out whether the battery is about to fail before it leaves you stuck.

What a battery test measures
A proper test is more than a voltage reading. Voltage tells you how full the battery is at that moment. A battery tester measures how much current the battery can still deliver, and compares it with the rating printed on the label.
| Check | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| State of charge | How full the battery is right now |
| State of health | How much of its original capacity is left |
| Cranking performance | Whether it can still deliver the current the starter needs |
| Charging voltage | Whether the alternator is recharging the battery while you drive |
| Terminals and cables | Whether corrosion or a loose clamp is the real fault |
When to have your battery tested
In the UAE a battery should be tested before every summer once it is more than a year old. Test it sooner if you notice any of these:
- A slower crank than usual on the first start of the day.
- The battery warning light staying on after the engine starts.
- Lights dimming or the AC fan slowing at idle.
- The car needed a jump start, for any reason.
- You are about to leave the car parked for several weeks.
- You are buying a used car and want to know what you are getting.
Why testing matters more in this climate
Heat damages a battery quietly. The car carries on starting normally through the summer while the plates corrode and the electrolyte evaporates, and then it fails without warning. A test is the only way to see that damage before the failure.
Reading the result
The result falls into one of three outcomes, and the technician shows you the reading rather than just giving a verdict.
| Result | What it means | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Good | Capacity and cranking power are within specification | Nothing. Test again before next summer. |
| Good, needs charge | Healthy but run down | A long drive or a proper charge |
| Replace | Capacity has dropped or a cell has failed | Replace it on your schedule, not the battery's |
When the battery is not the fault
If the battery tests healthy and the car still struggles, the usual suspects are a failing alternator, a corroded connection or something draining the battery while the car is parked. The technician tells you which to look at. A new battery will not cure any of them.
Common questions
Is the battery test really free?
Yes. If the battery is fine, you pay nothing for the diagnosis and we tell you what to check next.
Can I test a car battery myself?
A multimeter gives you the resting voltage — about 12.6 volts is fully charged, about 12.2 is half. That shows charge, not health. A worn battery can read 12.6 and still fail under load.
How often should a car battery be tested in the UAE?
Before each summer once the battery is over a year old, and any time the car has needed a jump start.
Does the test check the alternator?
Yes. With the engine running, the technician checks that the alternator is charging the battery at the correct voltage.
