Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi has deep roots in the UAE. The Pajero was a desert and family favourite for decades before production ended, the L200 is a staple of construction sites and farms, and the Attrage and Mirage fill rental and delivery fleets. Most Mitsubishis use conventional or EFB batteries rather than the AGM units of European cars, which keeps replacement straightforward, but the spread in size from an Attrage to a Pajero is wide.

The Pajero after production

Pajero and Montero owners tend to keep their cars for many years, and plenty of well-used examples are still doing desert trips. They take a battery of around 80Ah, sized for a big engine, a heavy cooling load and often extra lights or a winch. Older Pajeros also deserve a look at the cables and earth straps, since heat and vibration take their toll over time.

Working pickups

An L200 or Triton on site duty starts and stops all day, idles with the air conditioning on and collects dust in the engine bay. The battery, around 65Ah on common trims, works harder than in a private car. Clean terminals, a firm hold-down and a test every few months keep it from failing on the morning the crew needs it.

Outlander PHEV and its 12V battery

The Outlander plug-in hybrid has a large drive battery and a separate 12V battery that powers up the car's systems. When the 12V battery fails, the car may not enter Ready mode even with a full charge. We replace the 12V battery; the drive battery is a dealer matter.

Pajero
Around 80Ah; a big-engined 4x4 that should never be fitted with a smaller battery.
Montero
The Pajero under another name in some markets; the Limited uses around 80Ah too.
L200
Around 65Ah on common trims; site work and idling shorten battery life.
Attrage
Small saloon common in fleets; compact battery that heat finishes quickly.
Outlander
Petrol versions use a standard battery; the PHEV adds a separate 12V battery we can replace.

Around 80Ah on the common GLX and GLS trims, matched to the original terminal layout. Send the year and engine and the technician brings the right one.

Usually not. A weak 12V battery is the more common cause. We test it on site and replace it if needed; the drive battery is not touched.

On hard-working pickups in the UAE, around two to three years is typical, sometimes less with heavy idling and short trips.
