The Escalade asks a lot of its battery

Three rows of climate control, large curved displays, powered running boards, a premium sound system and, on newer versions, hands-free driving technology all draw on the Escalade's electrical system. Parked outside in July and idled with the air conditioning on, it cycles its battery hard. We bring the full-capacity AGM specification, never a smaller unit that simply fits.

Some saloons keep the battery in the boot

Several Cadillac saloons, including generations of the CTS, ATS and CT6, mount the battery at the rear for better weight balance, with jump posts under the bonnet. If you open the bonnet and cannot find a battery, that is why. The technician will need access to the boot floor.

Start-stop and the Lyriq

Many recent XT crossovers and CT saloons use automatic start-stop, which requires an AGM battery to survive constant restarts. The electric Lyriq has no engine to crank, but a 12V battery still runs its computers and connects the drive battery; when it fails, the Lyriq may not power up. We replace that 12V battery and leave the high-voltage system to the dealer.

Cadillac models: what to know

Escalade: Full-size SUV with very high electrical demand; needs a high-capacity AGM matched to the model year.
Escalade-V: Supercharged performance Escalade; same heavy load, and the replacement must meet the original rating.
XT5: Mid-size crossover with start-stop on many versions, so an AGM replacement is the right choice.
XT6: Three-row crossover; rear climate use and family loads make a pre-summer battery test worthwhile.
XT4: Compact crossover with start-stop; send the year so we bring the correct AGM group size.
CT5: Rear-drive saloon; check the boot area first, as several Cadillac saloons carry the battery there.
CTS: Earlier saloon, often second-hand; later generations keep the battery in the boot.
Lyriq: Electric SUV; we test and replace its 12V auxiliary battery, never the high-voltage pack.

A high-capacity AGM battery in the correct North American group size for its model year. Send the year and we bring the matching unit; a smaller battery will not cope with its load.

On later CTS generations it is in the boot, not under the bonnet. The bonnet has jump-start posts only. The technician replaces it from the boot.
