Enovate, known in China as Tianji, is a start-up that launched the ME7 electric SUV in 2019 and later the smaller ME5, offered with a range-extender petrol engine that charges the drive battery rather than turning the wheels. Production stayed modest and the company has been through serious financial difficulty, so an Enovate in the UAE is a rare private import. Its 12V battery, at least, is an ordinary part that can still be replaced.

What a Enovate typically takes

When the dash reports low voltage
Most modern electric cars watch their 12V supply and warn the driver when it sags. Owners sometimes dismiss the message because the range figure still looks healthy. In summer that is a gamble: the warning often means the auxiliary battery can no longer hold its charge overnight, and the next stage is a car that will not switch on in a car park. Book a test the first time the message shows.
The ME5's engine will not rescue it
It is tempting to think the ME5's petrol engine can fire up like a conventional car's when the 12V battery is flat. It cannot be relied on to. In a range-extender the engine runs as a generator under the control of the car's computers, and those computers need 12V power before anything else happens. A dead auxiliary battery immobilises the ME5 just as it would a pure EV.
Rare car, standard part
With so few Enovates around, owners expect every repair to be a special order. The 12V auxiliary battery is the exception. We measure the fitted unit, note its capacity, terminal side and venting, and bring a replacement of the same type. The high-voltage pack and the generator stay outside our scope.

Not from dead. The car needs working 12V power to start its systems in the first place. Once a healthy battery is fitted, the car keeps it charged normally while it is running.
