Mazda has worked with more than one Chinese partner, and the FAW side, based in Changchun, built the Mazda6 family along with cars designed for China such as the CX-4 crossover. Its catalogue confuses people because several generations were sold side by side under different names: the original Mazda6 stayed in production for years, the Ruiyi joined it, and the later model took the Japanese name Atenza. In the UAE these are uncommon imports, so our first job is working out exactly which car you have.

What a FAW Mazda typically takes
We do not publish a specification range for FAW Mazda because we would be guessing. Send us the model and year on WhatsApp and we confirm the exact battery, the price and the arrival time in one message.
Three saloons, three battery setups
An older Mazda6 kept in production for China generally uses a conventional battery with no engine stop at the lights. The Atenza belongs to the Skyactiv era, and versions fitted with i-stop call for an EFB or AGM instead. The Ruiyi sits between the two. Because the names overlap, we ask for the build year and check the battery already fitted before reading anything into the badge.
The CX-4 was never sold in the Gulf
The CX-4 is a coupe-styled crossover built for China and absent from Mazda's Gulf network, so parts counters here have no listing for it. It shares its Skyactiv hardware with Mazda's other crossovers, but the battery can vary with engine and trim. Once we have the dimensions, rating and terminal layout of the fitted unit, we can source a proper equivalent locally.
FAW Mazda models: what to know
- Atenza
- China name for the third-generation Mazda6; check for i-stop before choosing between EFB and a standard battery.
- CX-4
- China-only coupe crossover; we match its battery from the fitted unit because local catalogues omit it.
- Mazda6
- The older design kept in production for China; a conventional battery without start-stop is typical.
- RuiYi
- Mazda6-based saloon sold alongside the older model; confirm the year so the size is right.
- MX-5
- Two-seat sports car often kept for occasional outings; a maintainer stops its small battery sinking between drives.

Questions, answered.
Yes. Atenza is Mazda's Japanese-market name for the Mazda6 and was used in China for the third generation. The battery rules are the same: versions with i-stop need an EFB or AGM.
The CX-4 was not sold in the Gulf, so it does not appear in local parts systems. The battery itself uses a standard case, and we match it from the details on the one already in the car.
