Force Motors, based in Pune and once known as Bajaj Tempo, is an Indian maker of vans, utility vehicles and the Gurkha off-roader. It also assembles engines for Mercedes-Benz and BMW in India, and some of its own diesel engines are derived from Mercedes designs. In the UAE a Force vehicle is uncommon: typically a Traveller or Urbania carrying passengers or staff, or a Gurkha brought over by an off-road enthusiast. Both kinds lean heavily on the battery, for different reasons.

Passenger vans with heavy cooling loads
A Traveller or Urbania running a staff or school route may carry a dozen or more people, with the air conditioning working hard and the engine idling at every pickup. Rear cooling and interior lighting, where fitted, add a steady load, and the battery is asked to restart a large diesel many times a day. For vans in this role we recommend a battery at or above the original capacity and a test at each service, rather than waiting for a no-start at the depot.
The Gurkha off the tarmac
The Gurkha is a ladder-frame 4x4 with a diesel engine, often fitted here with extra lamps, a compressor or a winch. Those accessories draw far more than the stock electrics, and dune driving means low speeds, heat and vibration together. We make sure the hold-down is secure, check that added wiring is fused and not chafing, and size the battery for the load the vehicle actually carries.
Indian-market vehicles, local stock
Most Force vehicles here were built for India or other export markets, so the battery fitted may be an Indian size or brand rarely stocked in the Gulf. That is seldom a problem, because the dimensions and terminal layout can be matched to an equivalent. What we need is the length, width and height of the old battery and which corner the positive post sits in.
