JAC, short for Anhui Jianghuai Automobile, has been building trucks in Hefei since the 1960s and now makes pickups, SUVs, saloons and electric cars, some developed with Volkswagen. In the UAE it is still an uncommon badge, seen mostly on T6 and T8 pickups used for work and on compact SUVs such as the JS4 and S3. Pickups first, then everything else

JAC's roots are in commercial vehicles, and its T6 and T8 pickups carry that heritage: simple, sturdy electrical systems designed around diesel or petrol work engines. These trucks often work long hours in the heat with frequent restarts. A heavy-duty battery with strong cranking performance suits them better than the cheapest unit that happens to fit.
