Grand Cherokee: the battery is under the seat
On the 2011 to 2021 Grand Cherokee, the main battery sits beneath the front passenger seat, not under the bonnet; the posts in the engine bay are only for jump-starting. Many owners are surprised by this when their car fails. The technician will move the seat and access the battery through the floor, so there is no need to remove anything before we arrive.
Wranglers with stop-start carry two batteries
Many recent Wranglers equipped with engine stop-start have a small auxiliary battery alongside the main one. It supports the electrics while the engine restarts, and when it fails the dashboard may report that stop-start is unavailable or show a battery warning, even though the main battery starts the car normally. We check both batteries and replace whichever has failed.
Off-road accessories and resting drain
Aftermarket winches, light bars, radios and dash cams are standard equipment on many desert Jeeps, and each connection is a potential source of drain when parked. If a Jeep flattens its battery after a few days at rest, the technician measures the resting current to track down the culprit before fitting a new battery that would suffer the same fate.

On 2011 to 2021 models it is under the front passenger seat, accessed through the floor. The terminals under the bonnet are for jump-starting only.
