What a Karry typically takes

Dozens of starts in a single shift
A delivery van may be started twenty or thirty times a day, with the engine off only long enough to drop a parcel. Each start takes charge out, and the short hops between stops rarely put it back, especially with the air conditioning on full. After a year of that pattern a battery can be worn out even though it is not old. We test for remaining capacity, not just voltage.
Extra equipment wired to the battery
Working vehicles collect extras: tracking units, reversing cameras, amber beacons, inverters for power tools and sometimes a small cooling unit in the back. Each one wired straight to the battery adds a draw that carries on overnight. If a Karry keeps going flat after sitting, the technician measures that drain with everything locked before fitting a new battery, so the real fault is found rather than hidden.
Electric Youjin versions
The Youjin EV replaces the petrol engine with an electric drive, but a 12V battery still runs the lights, locks and control units and lets the traction system switch on. We look after that low-voltage battery only. The high-voltage pack and its charging equipment belong with a qualified specialist.
