Rear-cabin comfort runs on 12V
Every motor in the rear seats, every screen and the cooled compartment draw on the 12V system. At idle the alternator supplies only part of what the cabin demands in summer, and the battery covers the rest. When a Maybach begins behaving oddly, seats pausing mid-movement or screens restarting, low battery voltage is a likely cause and worth testing before anything else is investigated.
48V, V12 and electric: one 12V constant
The GLS 600 and several S-Class versions use a 48V starter-generator, the S 680 carries a V12, and the EQS SUV is fully electric. Across all of them, a conventional 12V battery powers the control units that bring the car to life, typically an AGM unit. If it fails the car may refuse to start, regardless of the drivetrain. We replace this 12V battery; 48V and high-voltage systems are dealer work.
Chauffeur schedules and timing
A battery failure on a chauffeured car usually happens at the worst moment, before an airport run or an evening event. Because these cars idle so much, a battery test every few months is sensible, and replacing a weak battery during a planned stop is far easier than dealing with a no-start at the kerb.
