Microcar is a French quadricycle brand that has been owned by Ligier since 2008, and in the years since, the two ranges have come to share engines and many electrical components. A Microcar and a Ligier from the same period can therefore be close relatives underneath, even though the bodies look different. Very few reach the UAE, and those that do are usually private imports from France or elsewhere in Europe. When one needs a battery, the year and engine tell us more than the badge.

What a Microcar typically takes

Older M8 and F8C cars need a wider check
The M8 and F8C were built until around 2015, so any surviving example is now more than ten years old. At that age the battery is only one suspect: corroded terminals, a tired earth strap or a weak charging circuit can all imitate a dying battery. After fitting, we check the charge voltage with the engine running, so a new battery is neither blamed for nor drained by an older fault.
Diesel or electric: tell us which
Some recent models were offered with either a small twin-cylinder diesel or an electric drive under much the same body. On the diesel, the battery's main job is cranking; on the electric version, it wakes the controller, runs the lights and enables the drive system. The registration card or the rear badge normally shows which you have, and knowing it in advance means the right unit is in the van.
