Omoda is a young brand, launched by Chery in 2022 as a style-led line of crossovers aimed at younger buyers and export markets. It is a recent arrival on UAE roads, with the C5 compact crossover leading the way and the larger C7 and C9 following, plus the electric E5. Underneath, Omodas share much of their engineering with Chery's Tiggo range, which is useful when it comes to finding the right battery for a car that is still new to most shops.

What a Omoda typically takes

New cars, limited fitment data
Because the brand is so new, many parts catalogues have thin or incomplete battery listings for Omoda models. The most reliable information is on the car itself. A photo of the label on the current battery, with capacity, size code and terminal side, lets the technician match it exactly rather than rely on a guess from a related Chery model.
Turbo petrol engines and summer heat
The petrol Omodas use small turbocharged engines, which make the engine bay hotter than a naturally aspirated car of similar size. Heat is the main reason batteries fail early in the UAE. First-generation cars bought at launch are now reaching the age when an original battery can start to weaken, so a test before summer is sensible even if the car has given no trouble.
E5 and hybrid versions
The electric E5 and hybrid versions of the larger models still use a 12V battery to switch on the car's systems and connect the high-voltage battery. If one will not power up despite showing charge, the 12V battery is the first thing to test. We replace that battery only, never the drive battery.
