ORA is the electric-car brand of Great Wall Motor, the company behind Haval and Tank. Its cars carry playful cat names in China, and the same model can wear different badges abroad: the Good Cat was sold as the Funky Cat in some export markets and later renamed the ORA 03, while the Lightning Cat saloon became the ORA 07. Whatever the badge, these are small and mid-size EVs, and like every EV they depend on a 12V battery to come to life.

What a Ora typically takes

One car, several names
Because ORA renamed its models for export, owners sometimes struggle to find battery information under the name on their tailgate. The engineering underneath is what matters, and the 12V battery fitted to the car is the best reference. A photo of that battery's label tells the technician its size, type and terminal layout, whatever the car is called.
When the car will not wake
The 12V battery unlocks the doors, starts the control units and connects the drive battery. If it is weak, an ORA can appear completely dead even with plenty of range. City EVs that are driven briefly and then parked outdoors in summer are particularly prone to this. We test the 12V battery on site and replace it where it is a conventional unit.
