Renault Samsung Motors was the Busan-based arm of Renault, and its SM saloons and QM SUVs are Korean-market cars that often reached the Gulf as used imports. Many of them have Renault-badged relatives: the QM6 is the Koleos, the SM6 the Talisman, the XM3 the Arkana. Because the Korean versions can differ in engine and equipment, we treat them as their own cars and size the battery from the one already fitted, not from the Renault twin.

What a Renault Samsung typically takes

Korean spec is not always Gulf spec
Cars built for Korea may use LPG or petrol engines, electronics and option packs that were never sold here under the Renault name. That can change the battery group or the need for an enhanced battery. The quickest route to the right replacement is a photo of the current battery label, including the size code and the cold-cranking figure.
Older SM saloons: simple and forgiving
The SM3, SM5 and SM7 were conservatively engineered, with conventional batteries under the bonnet and no start-stop. Owners in the UAE tend to keep them as reliable daily cars. Heat is still the enemy, so a battery that is three or more years old should be tested before the summer peak rather than after it fails in a car park.
