Rover stopped building cars in 2005 when MG Rover collapsed, so every example in the UAE is now an enthusiast's car, a long-held family saloon or a British import kept for sentimental reasons. What a Rover typically takes

Honda-era and later Rovers differ
The 200, 400 and 600 of the early 1990s shared much of their engineering with Honda models, while the 75 was designed under BMW ownership and the 25 and 45 evolved from earlier Rovers. Battery sizes and positions therefore vary across the range. A photo of the fitted battery, or of the tray if it has been removed, is the best guide.
Storage is harder on the battery than driving
A Rover used a few weekends a year in the UAE spends months in heat with a small standby drain from the alarm and clock. That combination can take a battery below the point of recovery. For stored cars, a maintenance charger or disconnecting the negative terminal before a long break makes a real difference.
Old wiring deserves attention
On cars of this age, corroded clamps, a tired earth strap or a stiff starter can look like a dead battery. The technician checks the connections and measures cranking voltage before recommending a new battery, so you are not buying one you do not need.

Not always. We test it first; some recover with a proper charge, but batteries left flat in heat often lose capacity permanently and need replacing.
Yes. Rover used standard battery sizes, so the correct case and terminal layout can be matched from the old battery or the tray measurements.
For long breaks it helps, or better still use a maintenance charger. Note any radio security code first, as some older units ask for it after power is lost.
