Subaru builds almost every car around the same recipe: a flat boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive. What a Subaru typically takes

We do not publish a specification range for Subaru because we would be guessing. Send us the model and year on WhatsApp and we confirm the exact battery, the price and the arrival time in one message.

Stick to the size the tray allows

Because the boxer engine sits low and wide, the battery shares tight space with the intake and fuse box. Many Subarus use relatively small batteries by SUV standards. Rather than upsizing the case, choose the best-quality battery in the correct size, with a cold-cranking rating at least equal to the original.

EyeSight and electronics dislike low voltage

Newer Subarus with EyeSight driver assistance, auto start-stop on some models, and electric parking brakes can show warning lights when voltage drops during cranking. A weak battery sometimes shows up first as a cluster of unrelated warnings. Replacing it usually clears them after a drive, though some may need resetting by a workshop.

Performance models and long parking

WRX, WRX STI and BRZ cars are often weekend toys. Left for weeks in summer heat, their batteries lose charge and capacity. A maintenance charger, or a drive of at least half an hour every week, keeps them ready.
