What a Tank typically takes

Built for dunes, loaded with electronics
Tank SUVs pack large touchscreens, 360-degree cameras, locking differentials and off-road driving modes. All of that draws on the 12V system, as do the fridges, compressors and light bars owners often add. We match or exceed the original battery's capacity and check that the hold-down survives corrugated tracks.
Hybrid Tanks still have a 12V battery
Hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the Tank 400, 500 and 700 use a high-voltage battery for drive assistance, but they wake up and run control units from a conventional 12V battery. When it fails, the car may refuse to enter ready mode. We replace the 12V battery; high-voltage parts are for the dealer.
Recovery trips and heat soak
After a long day on the dunes, a Tank parked in the sun with the engine off soaks up heat that accelerates battery wear. Repeated deep discharges from running accessories with the engine off also shorten life. A pre-summer battery test is sensible for anyone who goes off-road regularly.
