Weltmeister, the car brand of Shanghai's WM Motor, was one of China's early electric start-ups, delivering the EX5 SUV from 2018 and later adding the EX6 Plus, the E.5 saloon and the W6. WM Motor applied for bankruptcy restructuring in 2023, and support for its cars has been uncertain ever since. For the handful of owners in the UAE, the practical question is which parts still keep the car usable, and the 12V battery sits near the top of that list.

What a Weltmeister typically takes
We do not publish a specification range for Weltmeister because we would be guessing. Send us the model and year on WhatsApp and we confirm the exact battery, the price and the arrival time in one message.
When the app and updates go quiet
Weltmeister cars were designed around connected services, with remote functions and over-the-air software updates. With the maker in restructuring, owners cannot count on those services, and a car that stops receiving updates keeps whatever battery-management software it last had. That makes the physical health of the 12V battery more important, because no remote fix is coming if the car starts misbehaving at low voltage.
Cars that have been standing
Cars from a collapsed brand often end up parked for long stretches, whether as unsold stock or because owners stopped using them while they waited for news. Any EV left untouched for months in UAE heat will probably have a fully discharged 12V battery, and a lead-acid unit rarely returns to full health after that. If you are bringing a stored Weltmeister back into use, begin with the 12V battery.
One part that is still easy to get
Unlike body panels or drive-unit components, the auxiliary battery is not tied to the manufacturer. We identify it from the unit in the car, match size, capacity and terminals, and fit it in the car park. That will not cure a high-voltage or software fault, but it removes the most common reason a car simply refuses to switch on.
Weltmeister models: what to know
- EX5
- The first Weltmeister, a compact electric SUV; many are now ageing cars still on their original 12V battery.
- EX5-Z
- Revised version of the EX5; confirm which one you own so the replacement matches the fitted unit.
- EX6 Plus
- Larger electric SUV above the EX5, with more electronics drawing on the 12V battery at rest.
- E.5
- Electric saloon launched in 2021; we handle only its low-voltage battery, not the traction pack.
- W6
- Electric SUV with driver-assistance hardware; test its 12V battery before assuming a software fault.

Questions, answered.
The 12V battery, yes. It is a standard type that we match from the one fitted, so it does not depend on the manufacturer's parts supply.
With the 12V battery. After long storage in heat it is usually deeply discharged or damaged. We test it on site and replace it if it cannot recover, before you look into anything bigger.
