Vehicles here range from residents' cars to crew vans loaded with lighting, camera kit and inverters. On a long shoot day, equipment is often run off the vehicle with the engine switched off, and by wrap the battery has nothing left. Where we find cars in Studio City

Studio facilities usually control vehicle entry at a gate, so give us the studio or company name, the approved vehicle entrance and a production contact who can meet the technician. Keep a clear space beside the vehicle, away from equipment loading. For apartment buildings, the building name, parking level and bay are enough.

Running kit off the battery with the engine off

Crew vans often power lights, monitors, chargers or fridges through an inverter while parked, sometimes for hours with the engine off. A standard starter battery is not designed to be discharged deeply like that, and a few such days can damage it permanently. The van then struggles on cold starts even after a recharge. A test tells you whether the battery can still be trusted.
